Cllr Ross Britton

Most of my career was spent in and around the NHS, either as an employee, a service provider or, more recently, as a volunteer and support worker at the Covid vaccination centres, and as an elected Governor for Swale at East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust (EKHUFT).
My working life was shaped by caring for people or supporting those that do. Now that I’m retired, becoming a Parish Councillor is the next step on that path, and I’m keen to support the Sheldwich, Badlesmere & Leaveland community however I can.
When I sat in on a recent Parish Council meeting before joining, I felt at home – and I hope that through my board-level experience, caring nature and outgoing personality, I will be able to make a positive contribution. My current focus is on finding ways for the Council and the community to communicate more effectively, improving our channels, dialogue and information-sharing.
On a personal note, my wife Sally and I have lived in North Street since April 2019 and we love it here. Sally is a member of the WI and attends a multitude of U3A events, while I play indoor bowls at Whitstable Bowls Club, and am a keen rugby and football fan. Since moving to the area we’ve enjoyed making many new friends, exploring the beautiful local countryside on walks (joined until recently by our late and much-missed black Lab).

I look forward to hearing from you about how we can make Sheldwich, Badlesmere & Leaveland an even more special place to live.

I currently hold the following Portfolios on behalf of the Parish Council:

Emergency Plan
Clerk Management
